For some goddamn reason Paramount is releasing The Haunting remake as part of their Paramount Presents line.

Probably an attempt to capitalize on the popularity of the source material, but it’s a couple years late to the party. It’s a wretched film, so I’m sure it’ll fade back into obscurity soon.

I've listened to his show a few times since getting SiriusXM as a gift, and his callers bring it up frequently. He still talks about it warmly.Reverend Drewcifer wrote: ↑Fri Jul 10, 2020 3:18 pmIIRC, it may have something to do with his ex-wife and/or the depiction of his prior marriage.domino harvey wrote: ↑Fri Jul 10, 2020 2:49 pmReally? I don't remember caring for it apart from putting Paul Giamatti on the map, but wasn't it fairly popular both with audiences and critics? You'd think he'd want something people liked associated with himwilloneill wrote: ↑Fri Jul 10, 2020 1:29 pmI'm most surprised at Private Parts; I thought I remembered reading that Stern tried to have the movie put out of print a few years ago.

It has already been released on UHD, but the colorized version wasnt included anymore, not even just on the companion BD.

Doesn't Paramount own the Robert Wise 1963 The Haunting?RitrovataBlue wrote: ↑Mon Aug 17, 2020 3:36 pmProbably an attempt to capitalize on the popularity of the source material, but it’s a couple years late to the party. It’s a wretched film, so I’m sure it’ll fade back into obscurity soon.
A far superior film deserving of an upgrade.

According to the press release, amongst other extras, the release of Popeye will include "an interview with director Robert Altman from 2014" but no word on who performed the seance.

You think that's impressive, Paramount also resurrected Michael Ritchie to supervise the new restoration of The Golden Child.

Trading Places somehow escaped the blackface pandemonium and will be rereleased yet again in the new Paramount line in December

They can include a shaming of Dan Aykroyd as an exclusive bonus feature.domino harvey wrote: ↑Tue Sep 22, 2020 12:34 pmTrading Places somehow escaped the blackface pandemonium and will be rereleased yet again in the new Paramount line in December
Actually, in all seriousness, if they really wanted to go the extra mile, they might as well bring it up if they record anything new with him. Just have him be upfront, yeah it's wrong but in this context in 1983, it never occurred to him and many of his peers that it could be viewed as hurtful. It's probably why it was broadly accepted in mainstream entertainment for the next few decades.

Personally, I'm still waiting for Hud and Paper Moon. Gotta think they're possibilities for the Paramount Presents line, but who knows.

America hates Bogdanovich though, not even Criterion will release the solo blu of The Last Picture Show after breaking up the Lost and Found box. The Illuminati sway.

Yes, two great films! Wonder Boys remains a personal favorite that was very meaningful for me during the early aughts and I've long waited for an upgrade. Hopefully this'll give more folks a chance to check out We're No Angels, since I think the members here who are fans of dry dark comedy will love it. For those interested, here's a fun back-n-forth knives and I had about it in the 50s thread.

Quick reminder that if ordered from Amazon these barebone MOD catalog titles are BD-Rs, but they are pressed if ordered from other retailers like Deep Discount.

Re: Paramount Catalog Titles on Blu
I’ll third the enthusiasm for WONDER BOYS, easily Michael Douglas’s greatest role, and arguably Tobey Maguire’s as well. But the whole movie is pretty much perfect.
