Re: Arrow Announcements, Speculation & Irresponsible Conjecture

Any ideas? Whirlpool (1970) or My Bloody Valentine (1981), maybe? I'm not so sure on MBV, since there's only a dryer-related death in that film, not a washing machine one.Arrow Video wrote:***NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS ARE COMING!***

You all have said that the obvious choices are misleading, so that puts The Washing Machine out of the picture.

The Mangler is too obvious an answer but Whirlpool? Sure why not.

I'd love it if it turned out to be James Lee's The Beautiful Washing Machine.

Hoping it’s a bunch of unreleased Altmans, including The Laundromat.

It’s probably the rumoured Larraz box set (with Whirlpool included)

So now the obvious clues can be correct?!
EDIT: In other news, this was the box-set I was confusing with a collection Jesús Franco's films.

Assuming Toei has HD masters, I'd love to see Arrow explore the rarer martial arts films such as The Bodyguard (Sonny Chiba), The Karate (Bronson Lee) and Which Is Stronger: Karate or Tiger (Yasuaki Kurata). The more, the merrier!

Curious whether Larraz's Deadly Manor is just a rumour or actually in the works?

Re: Arrow Announcements, Speculation & Irresponsible Conjecture
The clue for this Friday's Academy announcements is a solid block of red. Possibly Red Sorghum or Raise the Red Lantern? Or maybe a Russian film, hence red square. I think Kawashima's Suzuki Paradise: Red Light also got a restoration for his centenary, so that's probably in contention too.

Re: Arrow Announcements, Speculation & Irresponsible Conjecture
The specific shade of red could be important. So uh, is it crimson? Maybe Panahi's Crimson Gold, or Ripstein's Deep Crimson?
If not, maybe they're going back to Japanese cinema with some Koji Wakamatsu, and it stands for United Red Army.
But its probably none of those.

Possibly, but Arrow did once use a bulldog as a clue for Doberman Cop so I'm not sure we need to care about the specific shade of red!

Re: Arrow Announcements, Speculation & Irresponsible Conjecture
And of course it could be plain old Reds (1981).

Reds is with Paramount and seemingly unreleased on BD in the UK, so it seems technically feasible.
Spontaneously, because of the timing, I thought of Red Sorghum too.

Alternatively, it could be...Red Beard, Warm Water Under a Red Bridge, or Red Angel!

It’s hardly going to be The Crimson Kimono, unless Indicator’s Sam Fuller box is set to be yanked off the market in weeks - and if that’s the case, nobody’s told me.

Re: Arrow Announcements, Speculation & Irresponsible Conjecture
Red Sorgum, Raise the Red Lantern and/or Ju Dou (two of which do seem to have been restored recently) would be absolute pre-order purchases
