Got my copy today but I can’t find the Easter egg. Anyone else worked out where it is? I wonder if it is the deleted scene from the Criterion DVD.

I found the easter egg. Highlight the Forman interview part 2, press the left hand button on your remote (usually to the left of the enter button) and a deleted scene plays. Oddly enough this scene is different to the one on the Criterion release. In this scene we are in the hotel room with the two main protagonists.

Having now watched the scene I noticed that it is intact in both the US & UK DVDs but for some reason the Czech restoration/version has it removed. (The scene in question is the one in which Milda dupes the girl into staying in the room by ‘teaching’ her self-defence.)

"Massive improvements in terms of fluidity, density, depth, and overall image stability. Simply put, the Blu-ray release offers a vastly more convincing organic presentation of the film... VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED." Blu-ray.com

That's odd-- so the Blu-ray version of the film has a scene missing from the previous Second Run DVD and Criterion release, though it's included as a deleted scene? Is the film actually 82 minutes like the Second Run says-- that would account for why the Criterion runs three minutes longer (though they mistakenly have 82 minutes listed on their site too)

This SR version (which could be the original Czech release from 65) shows Milda holding the blonde’s hand by the stairs but the next time we see them they are both nude. I actually prefer the interim scene with Milda using his cunning to literally trip her on to the bed.

"Second Run brings a magnificent 4K restoration of Milos Forman’s A Blonde in Love to UK Blu-ray this week, in what is sure to be one of the home video releases of 2019. There’s a strong case to be made for this being Forman’s finest film... this would be an essential purchase even if it were a bare-bones release."

Hey Bikey, I was wondering if you had any further info about this edit that you could provide. It’s far from a deal breaker (Second Run have been doing outstanding work lately), I’m rather just curious. Cheers.

"Packing quite a punch in both straight narrative and sociopolitical terms, A BLONDE IN LOVE is essential for Forman completionists and fans of the Czech New Wave."

The concluding paragraph of the DVDTalk review makes me wonder if part of the allure of these films rests in our present experience of a very different but still rather oppressive "totalizing" cultural environment, albeit without the overt threat of gulag (a wee point).

Depends on whether you're a native citizen I guess, but give it time.

"An immaculate new restoration that premiered at Cannes, culled from a fresh 4K master. It looks simply gorgeous from start to finish and up to par with the label's previous impressive B&W releases in 1080p... The Czech LPCM mono track is also in immaculate shape"

"The scrumptious visuals of this new 4K restoration aren't the only thing to be grateful for on this Blu-ray [...]
This new 4K Blu-ray restoration is truly a thing of beauty. Fans of Czech cinema (or just cinema in general) should be very pleased with this Region 'Free' Blu-ray release from Second Run. Strongly recommended!"

In Antonin Liehm's book The Miloš Forman Stories, Forman states that just after the film was finished, he shot additional scenes at the request of the foreign distributor Maurice Ergas to bring the film up to 90 minutes. The shorter version is evidently the original Czech release version.
