Re: New Films in Production, v.2
Hopefully it will be better than those awful ads I've been seeing all over the T-stops.

I'm just happy she's in a major movie. Tom Hanks as Col. Parker might be a good stretch for him and create some curiosity.

V2. Escape From Hell
Timur Bekmambetov is developing the world’s first vertical format blockbuster.
Did anyone ask for this? Who is its target audience? Why?
So many questions!

That almost sounds like a compelling idea in isolation, but I'm not sure I trust the auteur behind Wanted and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter to do it justice.

Re: New Films in Production, v.2
Judy Blume's 1970 YA classic Are You There, God? It's Me, Margaret will be adapted into a film.
I really hope this project falls into good hands. Best case scenario: a thoughtful art-house-inspired, period-set (pun intended?) adaptation that captures the lovely tone of the book a la Call Me By Your Name. Worst case scenario: a snarky hack-job in which the story is updated for the present day and the dialogue is peppered with unfunny jokes about Snapchat a la Booksmart.

Unless things have dramatically changed, it's being made into a movie by Edge of Seventeen's Kelly Fremon Craig (with James L. Brooks producing).

Thanks. I hadn't realized filmmakers were already attached. I didn't see Edge of Seventeen but I heard good things about it, so hopefully that bodes well.

Re: New Films in Production, v.2
According to this NYTimes profile on Ben Affleck, he's looking at an adaptation of the non-fiction book King Leopold's Ghost as his next directorial project, with Martin Scorsese producing
I read the book (about Belgium's genocidal exploitation of the Congo and the public campaign to end it, one of the first international human rights efforts) when it was released twenty-plus years ago, and there's certainly a lot there dramatically; given Scorsese's recent comments on Killers of the Flower Moon, I can see why this would appeal to him.

Maybe if it's a big enough hit it will finally open the doors for the movie version of Rick Wakeman's The Myths And Legends Of King Arthur And The Knights Of The Round Table On Ice.

Re: New Films in Production, v.2
knives may be happy to hear that Ready or Not directors will helm next film in the Scream franchise
I’m curious to see what they do with it considering how good that film was

Scream certainly plays to their strengths so I'm open.
