Jeff Nichols' next film will be Yankee Comandante, starring Adam Driver. It is based on David Grann’s New Yorker article.

Hmm, I love Nichols' first four original projects, but thought Loving was a movement into typical true-story territory with little special about it. I was excited for his next project, an original spin on Alien Nation (which I guess is no longer his next project!), but maybe this will be okay.Cremildo wrote: ↑Thu Apr 30, 2020 12:09 pmJeff Nichols' next film will be Yankee Comandante, starring Adam Driver. Not sure if this has been mentioned.. I was looking up Nick Cave on IMDB. Which led me to John Hillcoat. He is in pre-production for a film called Witchfinder. A remake of the Vincent Price starring movie Witchfinder General/ The Conqueror Worm. It seems like it's been in pre-pro for a while though

Re: New Films in Production, v.2
Not quite "in production," but I got to wondering what Darezhan Omirbaev has been up to since Student came out in 2012 (besides teaching at film school). Turns out he gave an interview in April where he revealed his next film will be an adaptation of the Hermann Hesse story "Autorenabend," relocated to Kazakhstan and addressing Omirbaev's fear that the Kazakh language might soon die out. Unfortunately the planned shoot was delayed by the coronavirus.

Pretty sure I could post this directly into the Films That Never Happened thread, but Ben Affleck plans to direct film on the making of Chinatown

Smart, following up an awful helming job with a movie that'll prominently feature Polanski and be creatively dismissed before it goes into production. Tarantino may be able to prevail from getting shit for featuring Polanski in his film with barely any lines, but something tells me Affleck will not be able to withstand what comes his way.domino harvey wrote: ↑Fri Aug 07, 2020 10:04 pmPretty sure I could post this directly into the Films That Never Happened thread, but Ben Affleck plans to direct film on the making of Chinatown

I would not like to think about what Roman and Jack may have got up to.

Awful. Thinking of Kevin Hart doing the "I like me" speech feels like a modern SNL sketchaox wrote: ↑Mon Aug 17, 2020 9:41 pmI'm not a huge fan of the original, but...

Thinking on this Kevin Hart be most certainly playing Kevin Hart which will most certainly undercut the emotional revelations the original film had. I just don't see anyone replacing Candy either.therewillbeblus wrote: ↑Mon Aug 17, 2020 9:56 pmAwful. It’ll most likely be a very different tone where Will Smith says “I like me” constantly in every breath and action throughout the film, essentially playing his real smug self. They both will, and it’ll be abominable.

It's interesting to watch Jack Huston's star slowly rise, but surely the most baffling of those names is Reeve Carney (though he's certainly using his time away from his regular job well)

As much as I’m not a fan of him in Penny Dreadful, I don’t think Hadestown works without him. And Hadestown was incredible.Never Cursed wrote: ↑Sun Aug 23, 2020 10:29 pmIt's interesting to watch Jack Huston's star slowly rise, but surely the most baffling of those names is Reeve Carney (though he's certainly using his time away from his regular job well)

Precisely what I was referring to! He is indeed very good in that (though of course Eva Noblezada, his romantic partner in and out of the show, is even better), but it's a role written for a mousey, scrawny, warbly singer/performer like himself, and more than any of the other principals, I had a difficult time picturing his stage presence working outside of, well, the stage.smccolgan wrote: ↑Sun Aug 23, 2020 11:39 pmAs much as I’m not a fan of him in Penny Dreadful, I don’t think Hadestown works without him. Uhh Netflix is making a film about Martin Shkreli‘s purchase of that lone Wu-Tang album a few years ago, RZA potentially involved as producer
If this is a loophole for them to fill the soundtrack with that album’s contents and release it in the form of an OST, genius. Otherwise..
