I like that he offered it as a "mooted" possibility when he's the only one here who thinks Arrow is putting it out

I absolutely 100% thought it was like a certain thing confirmed through one back channel or another and looking back over post histories have no idea what I was thinking of and am super sorry I’ve behaved like an irrational crazy person about this single solitary issue

I'm wondering whether the "something big" is a Naruse boxset, given that Carlotta is releasing one this November according to the Carlotta thread. A restored version of Two in The Shadow had a selective release in France recently. When I messaged Arrow Academy about it at the time I got a "thanks for your comment and it has been noted" which could of course mean anything or nothing but.... I've messaged them again and will let you know their response.
Another of the 'big four' UK boutique labels was considering a Naruse Blu-ray set a couple of years ago, but still nothing on that front. I'd be happy if Arrow were the ones to go for it, but just as glad if Eureka, BFI or Criterion had a stab.

Just had a reply from Arrow Academy. "Not currently but it's a great shout" I take that to be a 'No' then unless you Bletchley Park Circle decoders out there can read anything else into that!

How likely is Poltergeist?

Tobe Hooper, MGM property, Film seems quite peculiar now, lurching continually between the styles of Hooper and Spielberg. Unusual film, Hooper seems to disappear in the middle, then regains momentum formthe grielling final act, as Spielberg seems to ease off the sentimental dialogue and clean Close Encounters type FX. Could be seen as a highly commercial variation on Hooper’s experimental debut Eggshells.

Would love to see this film get the big restoration treatment. Arrow’s reputation are very good in restoring major studio titles.

Poltergeist is owned by Warner Brothers. Parts 2 and 3 are with MGM.

I would hope it's coming to the UK, and soon. I can't see Carlotta doing a five film box set of Naruse without splitting the costs with one or more partners, but I know Eureka famously struggled with their Naruse DVD box, and they seem to have slowed down their Japanese catalogue titles significantly since 2015, only upgrading House and releasing a handful of new release films (I don't really consider 1997 to be "catalogue"). I think I remember something about Indicator saying they don't have any foreign-language films in the pipeline, which would pretty much rule them out, so to me, it's either Arrow, Criterion or Eureka, and I certainly hope we find out which one before the Carlotta set is out in November.

Why not BFI, who released a Naruse box of their own? Also, Indicator don't just have nothing in the pipeline--focusing exclusively on English-language films is in their business model.

So Arrow have taken over Shameless and are able to release in America a couple of Martinos that received average releases by Shameless. Torso & Wardh. And, fingers crossed these restos go well, including colour timing, etc. Hopefully will be as good as their release of ...Scorpion’s Tail.

Forgive me if this has been asked, but does this have any bearing on All the Colors of the Dark? Another recent Shameless release over here. Who owns the US rights? I don’t believe there’s a current or upcoming US release...

Since I just shelved out 200€ to buy the OOP French DVDs of almost all the Hideo Gosha movies, I'm more wary of seeing these getting announced by Arrow... but you'll know who to thank if/when they announce these !
(this is because both the Gosha movies and the Teruo Ichi movies were released in France in DVD by HK Video in now OOP boxsets)

Arrow's restoration of Aleksei German's Khrustalyov, My Car! will premiere at the New York Film Festival.
The original 35mm fine grain positive was scanned in 2K resolution on an Arriscan at Eclair, Paris. The film was graded and restored at Dragon DI, Wales. Restoration supervised by James White, Arrow Films; restoration produced by Daniel Bird.
This is fantastic news; I've been wanting more Aleksei German releases from Arrow ever since their outstanding release of Hard to Be a God.

Very excited about the Larraz.

What about the clue of the “bust” of “Nero?”

Something with Franco Nero? Or Fulci’s 7 Notes in Black? (Settle note in Nero)

Or, something by Roman Polanski?
