Did Simeoni say he was working with Arbelos regarding The Last Movie, or did he just retweet, in support of a label undertaking important work?tenia wrote:Yes, I suspect it might be a project like The Fury for which the work was shared by multiple labels.
It might also be a case like To Live and Die in LA, where one label did the technical work on the movie and the other took care of the extras.

Announcements, Speculation & Wild, Irresponsible Conjecture
The Last Emperor is OOP in the UK, so I wonder if Arrow might pick it up down the line and restore it in its original aspect ratio. Little Buddha isn’t any good though; would much rather they spent their time on Bertolucci’s Spider’s Strategem or even re-releasing The Conformist in a more definitive package a la their Argento restorations
The latter, I was just theorising that Arrow would be a likely outlet for the restoration in the UK.M Sanderson wrote:Did Simeoni say he was working with Arbelos regarding The Last Movie, or did he just retweet, in support of a label undertaking important work?tenia wrote:Yes, I suspect it might be a project like The Fury for which the work was shared by multiple labels.

An advert in the latest Sight and Sound indicates that Arrow is distributing Hirokazu Kore-eda's The Third Murder and Sergei Loznitsa's A Gentle Creature, which is very good news. I had thought that the Loznitsa wasn't going to get a U.K. release.

The Third Murder's BBFC classification states that it was indeed filed by Arrow.

Great news. I saw both of these recently and especially loved A Gentle Creature.AidanKing wrote:An advert in the latest Sight and Sound indicates that Arrow is distributing Hirokazu Kore-eda's The Third Murder and Sergei Loznitsa's A Gentle Creature, which is very good news. The release corresponding to the buddha statues clue:
How disappointing..
Not generally disappointing; I don't want to be misunderstood. I'm sure some people will love this.
Disappointing for me personally which isn't something I would like.

I’ll be honest, I have absolutely no idea what that is and that delights me profusely

I'll never say no to more ATG films, I'm beyond ecstatic. Anyone got any words on these?

Re: Announcements, Speculation & Wild, Irresponsible Conject
Wikipedia says at least one of them is an "erotic drama" but the Imdb entries reveal the films little more...eh grotesque than that. It sounds like something straight out of the Pinku Eiga to me. I can't be certain though. I guess we'll have to wait for the full reveal.Ribs wrote:I’ll be honest, I have absolutely no idea what that is and that delights me profusely

Re: Announcements, Speculation & Wild, Irresponsible Conject
Announcements are coming tomorrow, as per Arrow Video's Twitter.
Here is this month's clue:
Some folks in the comment section pointed out that's Christopher Walken, which could signal The Dead Zone. No idea if this is a possibility, though.

The Dead Zone in the UK isn't owned by Paramount at least.

There's a world premiere of a new director's cut of Abel Ferrara's The Addiction taking place in Newcastle this week. It doesn't credit Arrow, but it would certainly fit the bill.

It’s very young Walken so I have to imagine it’s an early film. My bet is on Michael Winner’s THE SENTINEL. Universal. No UK blu.

Please let it be The Addiction or The Funeral. Failing that, The Dead Zone.

Interested in Vigil, The Addiction and The Quiet Earth, and will definitely try and get The Complete Sartana before it goes OOP. £50 is a bit of an ask though - I just pre-ordered Indicator's Boetticher set for only £45, and I love Spaghetti Westerns but would only consider paying that much for Leone or Corbucci.

Re: Arrow Announcements, Speculation & Irresponsible Conject
A great list of titles.
I'm definitely getting The Addiction and maybe The Quiet Earth too.
Vigil is one of my all-time favourites and I'm pleased to see it get a Blu-ray release, though I'm disappointed that it's a bit light on the extras.
The Madman DVD contained the excellent shorts A State of Siege and In Spring One Plants Alone.
The work of Antipodean directors like Vincent Ward and Paul Cox is crying out for more and better releases on disc.

I’m really hoping for Michael Mann’s The Keep. Someday.

Re: Arrow Announcements, Speculation & Irresponsible Conject
Anthony Nield recently tweeted about "going over the booklet content for a 2018 Arrow release that'll see much-needed restorations for three early works by a major filmmaker."
One possibility that would fit is an Early De Palma set. Last night a poster at Blu-Ray.com commented that he had "overheard a few people talking about an Early De Palma set coming. GREETINGS, HI MOM! and WEDDING PARTY. No GET TO KNOW YOUR RABBIT. Don't know if DIONYSUS is included."
If that's inaccurate, I suppose other possibilities would be Paul Verhoeven, Michael Haneke, or Peter Jackson.

I'm in for any of those. Hi Mom! features what is probably one of the greatest segments I've seen (the entire cinema verite Black "happening" in the middle of the film). Haven't seen the other two

Hi Mom! is definitely the highlight of that group and the only one I'd call good though Greetings is interesting.
