Re: Arrow Announcements, Speculation & Irresponsible Conjecture
The listing for the Assayas set credits Laszlo Szabo First for Made in USA, which is not the first title most would go to... maybe a future Arrow release? The other actor credits are for Arrow films

I wonder if there’s a chance Halloween (definitely being announced on Friday) could be on UHD, seeing as it’s apparently being released by Universal in the format in the US.

It's not Universal but Lionsgate.

Whoops. Still - if there’s one title that would probably sell well enough to make up the narrower margin for Arrow, it’d be that one.

I'd suppose so too. It seems like a huge seller, even on the UHD niche.

Lionsgate also has the UK rights to Halloween.

Re: Arrow Announcements, Speculation & Irresponsible Conjecture
Yeah, they're releasing it in September. Only a Blu-ray has been listed so far (and it's already in HMV's 5 for £30 offer).
Kevin Lambert at Arrow says there's something 'big' coming in December. I wonder what that could be?

Re: Arrow Announcements, Speculation & Irresponsible Conjecture
"Something big" could be any variety of things, so speculating on what it could be isn't likely to be correct by any other means except for a random chance guess getting lucky. Something "BIG" was promised for the US market early this year, and it turned out to be Basket Case - which is big, but not AS big as it could have been, while being arguably "bigger" than say, Four Flies on Grey Velvet, which is what I wanted.
So it could be something as massive as a Sergio Leone boxed set, or it could be a Blu-ray of the original The Ring, or maybe they found film elements for Rabid Dogs, or it could be The Complete Abashiri Prison, or it could be a super boxed set of Doris Wishman. Or it could just be their first 4K release, and its just Donnie Darko again.

Tu parles! There doesn't seem to be much evidence of any serious restoration work being done in France yet aside from Oeuil de Malin so in the unlikely event that Arrow have taken this on themselves theres still a long wait ahead.domino harvey wrote: ↑Thu Aug 02, 2018 12:34 pmOr it could be good movies and it's Arrow rereleasing their Chabrol holdings in a deluxe Bluray box set aka Rohmer last year

Solid HD copies of Le boucher and La rupture aired in France recently, so someone did some kind of work recently on at least a few of the titles

Re: Arrow Announcements, Speculation & Irresponsible Conjecture
Yes you're right in the respect that the Artedis titles have been granted financial support which overlap with the Arrow Titles, but I think we are some ways away before we can think of a coherent box set on the same scale as the original 2 volumes. I would love to be proven wrong of course. Oeuil is 4K by the way. I don't think the Artedis are but maybe Tenia has links and can quantify and qualify where we are with themdomino harvey wrote: ↑Thu Aug 02, 2018 12:44 pmSolid HD copies of Le boucher and La rupture aired in France recently, so someone did some kind of work recently on at least a few of the titles

True, but where's the fun in that. What A Disgrace wrote: ↑Thu Aug 02, 2018 12:19 pm"Something big" could be any variety of things, so speculating on what it could be isn't likely to be correct by any other means except for a random chance guess getting lucky. Anyway, someone on Blu-ray.com reminded me it still hasn't been revealed who licensed The Silence of the Lambs and I'm guessing that was high up on Arrow's wishlist (as would any Leone, or J-horrors like The Ring and Ju-on: The Grudge).

Re: Arrow Announcements, Speculation & Irresponsible Conjecture
L'oeil du Malin has been recently restored in 4K for Studio Canal.
However, I seem to remember that Chabrol's catalogue is plagued by a company who's bought some of his movies' rights, asked the CNC for restoration fundings but never really delivered on that after all these years. I can't seem to find any press article about that though (there definitely was some about this), so I'm wondering if I'm not mistaking with another director.

Re: Arrow Announcements, Speculation & Irresponsible Conjecture
I'm wondering whether the "something big" is a Naruse boxset, given that Carlotta is releasing one this November according to the Carlotta thread. A restored version of Two in The Shadow had a selective release in France recently. When I messaged Arrow Academy about it at the time I got a "thanks for your comment and it has been noted" which could of course mean anything or nothing but.... I've messaged them again and will let you know their response.

I’ll bet that the big announcement is for a Shuji Terayama box. He’s one of the “great white whales” of the DVD era, and he’s someone whose oeuvre would be hugely appealing to Arrow’s typical consumers

It’s probably just Halloween, though. Or the Laurel & Hardy box. Either of which we know are actually mooted to be happening and could easily be viewed as “big” releases

You really think Arrow will release a movie called "Halloween" in December?

More importantly, how do you think Arrow will releaese Halloween when Lionsgate has the UK rights and are releasing it in September.
