And interestingly, for someone who is a buffoon most of the time and generally indifferent to most things, Homer seems to have a keen - sometimes too keen - awareness of the Supreme Court of the United States.HJackson wrote:She also snapped at Homer that time he slandered the late Earl Warren. Not bad for someone who thinks it's called the "Electrical College".

To be fair, it doesn't take a Constitutional law professor or trained historian to know Chief Justice Warren wasn't a stripper.

Re: The Simpsons
Homer's wildly inconsistent intelligence became a problem with the show. For a while it was just funny how ridiculously stupid he could be at certain moments ("Oooh, he read card good!"), but it did get old. In retrospect, it paved the way for the lazy and insipid joke writing that would define the show's later years (or at least the last ones I saw before I gave up on the show).djproject wrote:And interestingly, for someone who is a buffoon most of the time and generally indifferent to most things, Homer seems to have a keen - sometimes too keen - awareness of the Supreme Court of the United States.HJackson wrote:She also snapped at Homer that time he slandered the late Earl Warren. What really bugs me is calling it a “Googolplex” when there are only nine screens.

Re: The Simpsons
Well, it could just be those nine titles each playing on more than 1.11x10^99 screens...
(I’m assuming the “plex” part of the theater name is just derived from “multiplex” and not representative of the number of screens; if I’m wrong, I’ll let someone else write out the exponent)

Re: The Simpsons
I remember that episode of course but I had no idea until that link was posted in the Soderbergh thread the other day that “Steamed Hams” was this big thing.

How people have misheard that line as "egads" and it gone uncorrected for this long is beyond me.
