Re: Sense8
About halfway through and enjoying it a lot, though the club-mix reprise of 4 Non Blonde's "What's Up?" is something I could do without. (I seriously hate that song....)

Re: Sense8
I liked it well enough. I'm still not on board with the overarching nemesis and find the characters' individual stories and interactions more interesting.

The finale was a big letdown to me though since the heist had no set-up and left me mostly confused by what was happening.

Welp, hopefully there will be some wrap-up special, otherwise what a waste.

Maybe it'll get picked up by Netflix.

Re: Sense8
He's referring to how Netflix had a tendency to pick up cancelled shows from other networks as they were building up their content.

Probably before I had any familiarity with Netflix streaming.cdnchris wrote:He's referring to how Netflix had a tendency to pick up cancelled shows from other networks as they were building up their content.
Wondering should I dump Netflix altogether and simply switch to Filmstruck/Criterion Channel?

Should probably wait to check out Fincher's new series this October before pulling the trigger, just in case.Michael Kerpan wrote:Wondering should I dump Netflix altogether and simply switch to Filmstruck/Criterion Channel?

Re: Sense8
Not surprising that it was canceled, given that they shot on location in... what? eight countries? Still, I hope they maybe consider a feature-length film to resolve the cliffhanger season 2 ended on.

Re: Sense8
Receiving a 2-hour finale special.
I think this was widely expected but nice to have confirmation anyway.

Porn tube site XHamster wants to produce a third season (Link is SFW but still to a porn site, so you probably shouldn't click it at work)

Re: Sense8
The finale was fun fan-service, if overly hurried in terms of plot. There were moments where flashbacks provided too much of the exposition, but given that they had ~150 minutes to tie up two seasons' worth of stuff spanning eight (or more) storylines, it's inevitable that most of the marginal characters got short shrift, even though the finale crammed more of them in than did Avengers: Infinity War. Still, it stayed true to the Wachowskis' thematic concerns.

Re: Sense8
It was a delight seeing the wonderful cast gather for one last hurrah -- even if the plotting was pretty much a mess....

I think Dani and Hernando had at least twice as much to do as Lito did, and he's one of the sensates!

Re: Sense8
It was an alright sendoff to a show that was merely good, with some inspired moments scattered throughout. The editing team and the cast deserve most of the credit for making the show as fun as it was, but unfortunately the conspiracy plot was a major drag. I think the Wachowskis' dated approach to action scenes (the protagonists always have perfect aim and manage to dodge a spray of machine gun bullets at every turn) was my biggest sticking point with the finale, which I'd be willing to forgive if the final act wasn't one big shoot-em-up. I liked the show best when it worked in how the sensates managed their powers in everyday life, hopping the globe to show us Kala's struggle with an arranged marriage or Lito's attempt to stay in the closet. With the Wachowskis at the helm it was inevitable the show would focus more on action hero nonsense, but Sense8 will remain in my mind for a while because of its pointed political statement that truly embraced the concept of love is love.
