Me too. Any ETA on set 2 (and even 3)?

Is the first set officially OOP or OOS?

Just to let everybody know -- Milestone is having a "Sizzling Silent Cinema Sale" through the rest of August. Many, many silents are $10 each -- you can find the original promotion at http://goo.gl/2x4kdy

Both sets are officially WWFPTSU.

That would mean "we're waiting for Poland to ship us."

Sorry, but we just announced a sale of our silent films and that will be sufficient to keep us busy this month. So hopefully, next!

By both sets do you mean the first and second or the second and third?

Many thanks for the link about the silent film sale. I picked up Piccadilly among others.

Does the third set even physically exist yet?

I'm not sure the second set does either as of right now, so I wasn't sure

Thanks for that, picked up Charley Chase and the Bauer/Early Russian collection (already have the stunning Mad Love collection).

I'm assuming all of these are regular DVDs and not DVDrs.

I believe the Cinematheque releases are DVD-Rs and the Collection ones are DVDs.

Meaning the Bauer's are DVDr?

The Early Russian Cinema ones definitely are. (And they're just digitized VHS rips, but that's the best way to see these films for now.) I believe the re-issue of Mad Love is a DVD-R as well.

The Early Russian Cinema are professionally made DVD+Rs made at a lab. The rest, I believe, are DVDs. But as you know, Amy and I are Milestone (that's it -- and we've packed a huge number of orders today by our lonesome) and if there's ever a problem, we try to fix it.

Ah, too bad. Thanks and I guess I'll just stick to the Bernard and Lubitsch then.

The Early Russian Cinema copies are not digitized from the VHS -- we took the masters from the original D2 tapes. Still not perfect, but it's the best we have.

And MAD LOVE is a DVD release. I knew it already, but I still just opened one to double-confirm it.

You guys can always just write to me at milefilms@gmail.com and ask.

Sorry for the inaccuracy. I was just going off of my impression of the source, so that buyers might temper their expectations. I'm happy with my ERC set, though I'd welcome a more formal release. (You can't even navigate to the individual films other than by fast forwarding.)

No -- wrong again. The Collection were the DVD releases we did with Image some years ago. Since we were not allowed to use The Milestone Collection (or Stephen Colbert), we changed our line to the Milestone Cinematheque. There are some DVD-Rs of our lesser titles and we're glad to tell you which ones they are. Again, you can always ask us.

AND, I apologize -- the Early Russian Volume 3 and 7 were so popular, that we made DVDs of them.

I can't think of an exception, there must be, but all the $10 sale DVDs are because we have a large inventory of them and we want to share our abundance with our customers.

Since DVD-Rs are only done in batches of 100 or less, they are not on sale.

I don't remember where I got the impression that the Cinematheque reissues would not be on pressed DVDs. I don't actually own any of them, but I have gone out of my way to find the original pressings of some titles because I thought that was the only way to get them on pressed discs. I gladly stand corrected if I've been wrong all this time.

I ordered today and was amazed to get a shipping notice within a couple hours, can't believe there are only two of you! Looking forward to digging into the discs I got.

Exciting. Putting together a Lois Weber website for just two films seems a bit overkill - fingers crossed that they're going to be releasing more of her stuff on blu-ray.

The nice thing about owning Milestone is that we can restore what we love and then promote them to the best of our abilities. The Lois Weber website was fun to create, so I did it! I hope the FB page and the website do something to make Lois a more known entity. :-)
