It is entirely possible that the Amazon listing is wrong. Unfortunately, Cliff no longer posts on message boards, so I have no way of asking him if the listing is correct.

These are coming from Timeless Media Group and are only distributed by Shout! Factory

Shout acquired Timeless last year and they've mostly kept those brands distinct, but if the listing is accurate that Blu-ray would be a shift in this policy -- it's the first Blu under the Timeless banner (I think), and those four films were all released originally on DVD by Shout, not Timeless.

So we get Take a Hard Ride on half a blu-ray. That's something. Is Shout Factory generally good about the quality of their releases? I wonder if the Ringo films will at least have a good look to them.

They're uneven, but when they're good they're great.

***EXCLUSIVE ANNOUNCEMENT!***

We teased the following weeks ago but now we will confirm it: THE AMITYVILLE HORROR TRILOGY (consisting of the '79 original, the '82 prequel and the '83 3D entry) will be making its way from us in a Blu-ray collection set before Halloween. That’s a lot of bleeding walls, flies, demons, possessed family members in HD! More specifics (extras, street date, etc.) to emerge in the Summer

Also:

We'll confirm the "3D" in the Summer. :-)

So, that strongly suggests they certainly WANT to do the 3D version.

Oh god that is going to be great. I had feared that all the Corman-Poe films were with TGG.

Considering how dodgy a lot of Price's filmography is, that really does qualify as "some of the legendary horror film star's greatest films." Bravo!*

* As long as they manage to find decent transfers of all of those.

Actually I think for such a job slut Price has a surprisingly consistent career with only a handful of true stinkers if we stick with features. Certainly he had better luck than Karloff or Lugosi.

Jameson281 posted at the CHFB that TGG retains the DVD rights to THE MASQUE OF THE RED DEATH, THE PIT AND THE PENDULUM and THE ABOMINABLE DR. PHIBES. It is nice to know that TGG controlled titles are not an automatic no.

Are those Bruce Lee titles presumably restored?

$120 for that??? Seriously?

What was so wrong with this boxset that you used to find in the BN clearance section and could get for $15? I see that Fox took the set OOP, just to license it to Shout Factory, so that they could release the exact same thing, only split it up and charge several times more for it? What a world we live in...

Those two documentaries and two hours of bonus content better had be worth the extra $105.

Fox's license to the Bruce Lee films expired a few years ago. Shout licensed these from Fortune Star (and I think, unlike the Jackie Chan films, the Bruce Lee films are actually HD.)

Hopefully, Shout will have a cheaper Blu-ray only option for those that just want the films in HD and don't care to own that ugly box set.

I missed the Bluray part (odd that they don't mention that in the description). So its not quite as bad as what I thought, but still - what a ripoff for Bruce Lee fans (especially, as it sounds, if you will only get bonus content if you buy this stupidly expensive set). Any sign as to who owns the UK rights to Bruce Lee/Jackie Chan? In an ideal world, Arrow would be prepping them.

I also see that theres a much less expensive German set of Lee's films. Plus the documentaries are cheaper elsewhere as well.

No idea what company has the UK rights, but I imagine that the transfers would be identical to the ones Fortune Star provided to Shout Factory.
