Confused by the Criterion "Theatrical Version" of TOM JONES...
This article on IMDB delineates the differences between Theatrical & Director’s Cut.
Some of these moments in the Criterion “Theatrical” simply aren’t there.

One notable moment - the entire dirge
The Theatrical disc says "THEATRICAL VERSION" when I put it in my player, but clearly it has moments missing. Thoughts?

Watched this on Filmstruck and I truly disliked it. I was surprised as I usually like films that are set in a historical period, especially if the film captures the look and feel of the period, and this film does. Maybe its the comic tone, often bordering on slapstick, that threw me off.
I was really surprised to see that this won Oscars for best picture and best director, though there really wasn't much competion that year. Even more surprising that this won for best original score. I found the score to be especially annoying.
